What Happens During a Home Energy Audit?
In about 4 hours, our Energy Rater can inspect your home to identify things that you can do to improve your home's energy efficiency.
We send an independent, certified Rater to review your home to identify its energy characteristics, including insulation levels, window efficiency, wall-to-window ratios, heating and cooling system efficiency, solar orientation, and water heating system. We also do Performance Testing to measure the amount of air infiltration and duct leakage in your home. (Air infiltration and duct leakage typically accounts for at least 20-40% of a home owner's annual heating costs.)
The data gathered in this inspection and testing is entered into DOE-approved energy modeling software, which estimates the heating/cooling loads of your home. Based on our inspection, and the modeling of your home, we provide you with a list of specific repairs and upgrades that will help you save money now and mitigate the impact of rising fuel costs in the future.
Our detailed report provides digital and Thermal Images of your home to precisely pinpoint air leaks and identify areas needing upgraded insulation.
